Road Map – How to Find the Forest

The Kohanga  and public car park are at the end of Wright Road in Aongatete.

The Aongatete Outdoor Education Center (or “Lodge”) is past the car park. There is Strictly NO Vehicle access past the gate unless occupying the lodge or attending an event at the lodge. The gate can be locked at any time and a $50 infringement fee applies to vehicles locked in lodge grounds.

Pest Controlled Areas in the Bay of Plenty

The Project’s long term objective is to see the Kaimai-Mamaku Forest Park restored to some of its former glory, which can only begin to happen when widespread pest control is in place throughout the Park. This map shows how far away from this ideal we presently are. The Project looks after 500 hectares – less than 2% of the Park, which is under the overall control of the Department of Conservation.
