Experience the intensity of the New Zealand bush at night then wake up to hear native birds in a rousing dawn chorus!
This is our fifth annual ‘Breakfast With The Birds’ and each one has proved to be hugely popular.
Held at the Aongatete Outdoor Education Centre, this unique event kicks off with a delicious two course meal, talks by renown ecological experts and a guided night walk in the forest to see weta, spiders and all manner of interesting insects. Relive your youth with an overnight stay in the lodge dormitories before venturing out for the dawn chorus. With experts in bird identification on hand, you’ll have the chance to hear to over 20 species welcome in the day at Aongatete.
A restorative hot breakfast will be served before more intriguing topics and fascinating facts are on offer in the nearby forest with our local gurus – ferns, fungi, birds, trees… The event wraps up with a late morning tea at the AFP kohanga.
It’s just $60 a head (includes meals and accommodation) and is suitable for adults – minimum age is 16 years. Numbers are limited so if you’d like to experience this year’s Breakfast With The Birds, please email email@example.com to secure your spot.
