Work day – todays scheduled activity is Rodent Tracking Tunnel Index monitoring (RTIs). This involves putting out 80 tracking cards lured with peanut butter across our forest, including two lines outside the pest managed area. This requires two days – one to put cards out and the next to collect them in – and a clear, rain free night! You can participate for just one morning or volunteer for both.
We will also be prepping for the upcoming Feracol operation, packing non-toxic prefeed in small paper bags and organising them into lines ready for volunteers to put them out in the field. This is the perfect wet day activity if we can’t do RTIs.
Wear clothing and footwear suitable for walking both on and off track. Arrive at the kohanga ready to go at 8:30 am, and enjoy a morning cuppa and a chat before you head home at 12 noon.
