Get Involved

In or out of the bush, volunteers are our most valuable resource. We have an amazing bunch of people lending their time and expertise to help protect Aongatete Forest and the native species that call it home. Operating the project requires ongoing expenditure, so the generosity of our supporters is hugely appreciated.

We’d love you to join us!

We warmly welcome volunteers who are able to give their time to help us with all kinds of on-going tasks or one-off events, from baiting to baking, trapping to typing.

Each month, we run ‘volunteer days’ on the first and third Wednesday mornings in Aongatete forest at the top of Wright Road. These mornings have a work focus, there are many and varied pest control and line maintenance tasks on our To Do list.

Throughout the year, specific Saturday mornings are earmarked for major baiting campaigns, which is when many pairs of hands are essential to help put bait out or bring it back in.  There’s always a hot cup or tea or coffee on offer at the kohanga once you’re done and usually a bit of home baking too!

DONATIONS

As a registered charitable trust (Aongatete Forest Restoration Trust CC37006), all donations are very welcome. Every little bit helps us continue our conservation work.

We have set up an endowment fund with Acorn Foundation. By donating, you will help it grow. Once our fund reaches the $50,000 distributions threshold, the income earned each year will provide an annual income stream to us far into the future.

Alternatively, make a deposit directly to our Aongatete Forest Restoration Trust account. Please include your name in the reference field. Email us with your details so we can issue a receipt.

We gratefully acknowledge the support we’ve already received from many individuals and organisations.
