We’d love you to join us!
We warmly welcome volunteers who are able to give their time to help us with all kinds of on-going tasks or one-off events, from baiting to baking, trapping to typing.
Each month, we run ‘volunteer days’ on the first and third Wednesday mornings in Aongatete forest at the top of Wright Road. These mornings have a work focus, there are many and varied pest control and line maintenance tasks on our To Do list.
Throughout the year, specific Saturday mornings are earmarked for major baiting campaigns, which is when many pairs of hands are essential to help put bait out or bring it back in. There’s always a hot cup or tea or coffee on offer at the kohanga once you’re done and usually a bit of home baking too! Download our Introduction to Volunteering booklet here.
Get involved by completing the form below. We’ll add you to our volunteer database and you’ll get an email with more info, including the detailed volunteer registration form that we need to you fill in.

To prepare yourself for volunteering in the forest we’ve got guidelines that you’ll need to be familiar with. Read or download our Health & Safety Handbook for Volunteers.
We have a more detailed form that all new volunteers need to complete also, download it here.
